1st Wisconsin Heavy Artillery Civil War carte de visites [picture], [ca. 1864].

Two carte de visite portrait images of uniformed soldiers who served with the Company F of the 1st Wisconsin Heavy Artillery during the Civil War; one image is identified as Private Samuel F. Wood. Wood is shown standing in frock coat, with belt, bayonet and cap box. His Hardee hat with eagle, plum, crossed cannons and hat cord is on a table to his left. Wood enlisted on September 12, 1864 and was mustered out June 26, 1865. Also in the collection is a carte de visite of an unidentified 1st Wisconsin heavy artilleryman. He is pictured standing, in his frock coat with his Hardee hat on a ledge next to him. Both photographs are done by Opperman of Wolff's Gallery, Alexandria, Virginia.
